Complete the Triangle: Player Manual

Welcome to Complete the Triangle, a game where your goal is to turn all the squares on a triangular board black. The game has five levels, each with unique rules for how squares change colors when clicked.

Before you start playing, use the Pick a Level menu to the left of the triangle. Click Full Game to begin at Level 1 and progress automatically through all levels. If you prefer, you can practice a single level by choosing Level 1 Only through Level 5 Only. You cannot make any moves until you select a level from this menu. Selecting a level will reset that level’s move counter to zero.

The board is a six by six grid arranged in a triangle shape. The Q starts in the bottom-left corner. You can move the Q one square at a time in any orthogonal direction, either up, down, left, or right. Clicking on a square that is not directly adjacent to the Q will display an X briefly on that square, and the move will not count. You may click on any square the Q can legally move to, even if that square is already black or gray. When a valid square is clicked, the Q moves there, and the square may change color according to the current level’s rules.

In Level 1, clicking a white square turns it black. In Level 2, clicking a white square turns it gray, and clicking a gray square turns it black. In Level 3, clicking a white square turns it black, and clicking a black square turns it white. In Level 4, clicking a white square turns it gray, a gray square turns it black, and a black square turns it gray. In Level 5, clicking a white square turns it gray, a gray square turns it black, and a black square turns it white.

A level ends when all squares on the board are black. The counter below the board shows the number of correct moves you have made in that level. If you are playing the full game, each level’s counter will be preserved. A Total Moves counter will appear after completing the final level.
